A Cadillac SSDI Lawyer Can Assist in Filing for Disability Benefits
As dictated by law, any person who has been approved for disability benefits will, at some point or another, have their case reviewed by the Social Security Administration to ascertain if their medical condition or illness has or has not improved. Depending on the expected recovery, a diary date is established for each person and on that date the disability claim is re-evaluated. This is called a Continuing Disability Review. The SSA Offices for Cadillac, Michigan are located:
1720 South Mitchell Street
Cadillac, MI 49601-8533
(231) 775-0721
Cadillac, MI 49601-8533
(231) 775-0721
Or call the Social Security Administration’s national toll-free number at 1-800-772-1213.
Each disability claim is evaluated and assigned a diary date according to the following criteria: if a disability claim is deemed with “expected” medical improvement, a Continuing Disability Review will be conducted within six to twelve months; “possible” medical improvement will be reviewed no sooner than three years; medical improvement that is “not expected” will be reviewed no sooner than seven years. However, at some future date, every disability claim will be re-evaluated. Other reasons for a Continuing Disability review includes a resumption of work, and if the claimant begins to earn over the Substantial Gainful Activity amount as set by the Social Security Administration annually.
Claimants who resume work do not automatically lose their social security disability benefits. The Social Security Administration allows a claimant to work up to nine months as a trial period in a rolling sixty month time frame. At this point the Social Security Administration will conduct a review to determine if a claimant’s medical condition has improved to the level that they can sustain Substantial Gainful Activity and have recovered enough for disability benefits to cease. Some people will get a mailer form to complete, which can be complex and confusing, and this is where a disability attorney can help. It is important to fill out the form and return it otherwise disability benefits will be suspended.
Cadillac Disability Benefits
Cadillac residents who have qualified and are receiving disability benefits may think their interaction with the Social Security Administration is over are mistaken. It is still imperative for you to seek ongoing medical treatment, and to inform Social Security of any address changes or to update them with current contact information. It is a good idea to make and keep copies of all your medical records, and to forward them to your disability attorney for the purpose of having this information available when your time for a Continuing Disability Review happens.
The Social Security Administration will compare the initial findings in your disability claim with the current medical information in the event of a Continuing Disability Review and determine whether you are still eligible for disability benefits. Current medical information is crucial to this process.
